One of the greatest challenges to figure out during development was how we were going to create hundreds of various weather types and exterior lighting styles over thousands of planets that can be either procedurally generated or hand crafted. Another challenge was trying to find a balance between the typical golden hour lighting and top-down lighting which everyone tries to avoid but happens with planetary simulations.
Working closely with my friend Corentin Chevanne, we were able to create a large number of planetary lighting and atmospheres ranging from the familiar to more alien types.
We worked with the programming team to ensure we were pushing our tech to it's current greatest abilities. Thanks to all of our amazing coders.
