I’m a lighting leader and hands-on artist with 18 years of experience across AAA games, high-end cinematics, animation, and interactive media. My background spans visual direction, level lighting, look development, department building, pipeline design, engine development, final-quality review, and artist mentorship.
Lighting shapes atmosphere, guides the player’s eye, supports gameplay, and gives a world its emotional identity. I approach it through composition, color, exposure, material response, narrative, and performance, while keeping the needs of artists and production in mind.
Most recently, I spent nearly six years at Bethesda Game Studios as a Lead and Principal Lighting Artist. I built the Lighting Department from the ground up, establishing its artistic direction, workflows, review standards, documentation, and quality bar. I remained hands-on across Starfield, Starfield: Shattered Space, and early development on The Elder Scrolls VI.
I was the sole lighting artist on both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI for more than a year each, helping establish their early visual foundations and pipeline direction. As the department grew, I managed and mentored artists, directed internal and external lighting work, and partnered closely with Art Direction, Environment Art, Design, Cinematics, Production, Technical Art, and Engineering.
I also led a Creation Engine feature team of rendering engineers and tools programmers, translating artistic needs into development requirements and guiding new lighting, debugging, visualization, and color-grading features through production.
Before Bethesda, I worked at Blur Studio as a Senior Lead Artist with a focus in look development, environment creation, composition, lighting, rendering, and compositing for high-end cinematics and game trailers. My earlier work at Pixomondo and All Things Media gave me a broad foundation across 3D production and multidisciplinary team leadership.
I’m proficient in Unreal Engine 5 and continue developing complete environments and lighting studies within it. I care about clear visual direction, strong tools, thoughtful feedback, and helping artists produce their best work.
